Hi! My name is Paweł Kurek. I just completed my engineering degree at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice (Computer Science in Electronic Systems and Circuits), and I’m now starting my master’s studies in Computer Science, specializing in IoT / Embedded Systems. These will be part-time studies, as I want to focus on building projects for my portfolio, working, and gaining professional experience.

Since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by electronics and building simple robots, but it wasn’t until university that I really discovered what this field is all about. I consider myself largely self-taught – during my studies I only learned the basics, and the rest I’ve explored on my own. I’m constantly trying to improve because I want to tie my future to electronics and embedded systems.

What I enjoy most is hardware design – from schematics, through PCB layout, all the way to bringing circuits to life. On top of that, I also like the software side, especially programming in C, C++, and MicroPython, so in my projects I combine both worlds. I’ve built a few of my own designs (you can read about them in the next section) and also gained my first commercial experience. During my internship, I completed two projects that taught me a lot – unfortunately, I can’t share the details here. Still, they gave me valuable insight into what it’s like to work on professional hardware, how important teamwork is, and that sometimes the most important thing is not the perfect solution, but the one that runs reliably.

I want to keep developing as a hardware engineer – creating systems that don’t just work on paper but also perform in the real world.

I’m also excited to share that since September I’ve been officially working as an electronics technician, and partly as a programmer too. This is where I’m starting my journey into PCB design, which gives me tons of satisfaction and countless learning opportunities. Unfortunately, I still can’t show my work projects here, but you can definitely expect more of my own designs in the near future – because nowhere am I learning electronics as well as I am at my new workplace.

If anyone has good advice or interesting challenges for me… I’m always open 🙂 Enjoy browsing my portfolio!
